The person who authorities say carried out a mass shooting at Brown University on Saturday has been found dead in New Hampshire.

He was identified as Claudio Neves-Valente, 48, a former Brown University physics student.

Authorities said two firearms were found on his body.

“Tonight the people of Providence can breathe a little easier,” Providence, Rhode Island, Mayor Brett Smiley said in a Thursday night press conference.

The gunman killed two people inside the school's engineering building before fleeing and evading police for five days.

The victims were identified as 19-year-old Ella Cook, vice president of Brown’s College Republicans, and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, a freshman from Virginia. Nine others were injured.
