Rain On Wednesday, Mix On Thursday

Cool through the weekend
Posted
and last updated

Scattered light rain will start to move in early tonight, continuing at times overnight and into the Wednesday morning commute. Most cities will stay just above freezing, keeping roads wet instead of icy, although our northern cities and counties could see some wet snow mix in with the rain.

The light rain will continue at times the rest of Wednesday with some wet snow still mixing in with the rain in cities well to the north of I-80. Any snow accumulation through Wednesday night would be up towards Norfolk and Denison and less than an inch.

More of the rain will start to change into snow overnight and into Thursday morning, especially for cities along and north of I-80. South of I-80, more of this will try to stay as rain. The rain and snow will then continue at times the rest of the day before ending Thursday night. There is a lot of uncertainty with how much of this will fall as rain vs. snow, so snow accumulations lack much confidence as of early Tuesday. For now, we'll stay conservative with 0-1 inch for Omaha and places south. Cities farther north and northeast of the Omaha metro are in our 1-3 inch range. These all may need to increase as confidence grows.

We stay chilly with upper 30s Friday afternoon with mostly cloudy skies.

Saturday will be breezy with some light rain and snow possible in the morning, followed by a mostly cloudy afternoon with a high near 40.

Clocks spring forward Saturday night with low 40s again Sunday afternoon with a lot of clouds.

Monday brings a little better chance for some sunshine, but temperatures stay below average, in the low 40s.
