It has been an active start to the month of December in Omaha. We’ve seen rain, snow, and chilly temperatures and we’re only a few days into it all!

In Omaha, our average high for December is 35 degrees with an average low of 17 degrees. We typically receive 6.2 inches of snow and 1.04 inches of rain out at Eppley, where the official numbers for Omaha are recorded. Keep in mind, we have already measured 5.4” of snow and 1.19” of rain. Our rainfall total is already above average and we are currently only 0.8 inches below our average monthly snow total.

The Climate Prediction Center is showing we will likely be wetter than average this month, increased in part because of the system that came through at the start the month and already pushed our rainfall totals to above average. Even through December has started off chilly and temperatures stay below average for the next week, they are showing a slight chance for overall warmer than average temperatures for the month.
