It's hard to believe the month of February is already ending. The 28 days have gone by quickly, with many of them being cold and snowy. As we look back at the month, here are a few statistics.

This February, Omaha was above average when it came to total snowfall. On average, we see 6.1 inches of snow by the end of the month, but we have received 7.7 inches. That's 1.6 inches above average. Keep in mind, we are still running below average on total snowfall for the whole season by 6.6 inches.

While snow was above average, the temperatures were not. Overall, the month was about four degrees colder than average.  The average high and low for February is 38 degrees and 18 degrees, respectively. This February, we ended up with an average high of 34 degrees and an average low of 15 degrees.

Our warmest day of February at Omaha's Eppley Airfield was a recent one. We reached a high of 61 degrees on the afternoon of the 27th. And as for the coldest morning? It happened on the 6th, when the temperature dropped to –4 degrees.

The month of March can be a bit of a wild card here in Nebraska and Iowa with the possibility of more snow and even severe weather. Check back soon for some more stats on what we might be expecting in the new month.
