It probably doesn't come as a surprise that June was wetter than normal in Omaha.
Rain totals measured nearly seven inches, and the official tally was 6.89" at Eppley Airfield. While we were almost 3 inches above normal, it wasn't one the wettest June's on record, and we didn't even break the top 10 list. Almost half of the month – 14 days – we recorded rain, with the most rain falling between June 18-19 with 2.4 inches. Even with all the rain, we are still slightly below normal for the year.
Temperatures were also way above average with the 8th warmest June on record, which tied a previous record.
The National Weather Service stats for the month show that only 6 days in the month averaged at or below normal. Omaha hit 90 or above 14 days out of the month. The warmest was 99 degrees on June 29. There was only one record high for the month, and that occurred on the first day of June with a high of 96 degrees. The old record was 95 set in 1934.
