After days of above average temperatures in the 50s at the start of January, winter is back. We have seen colder temperatures and more snow, and we are getting even more snow and colder air this Friday (the 18th) and through the weekend! With more snow headed our way, let’s look at our snow stats for the season so far.

December and January have been snowy months, which is par for the course in the Midwest. In December, Omaha received 6.2 inches of snow as measured out at Eppley Airfield. So far in January we have received 5.9 inches of snow. That brings our current season total up to 15.8 inches. Normally we would be at 12.3 inches at this point in the season, so we are 3.5 inches above that. We are also above our season snow total of 11.4 inches from 2016-2017 and are poised to go over last season’s snow total of 17.0 inches after Friday’s winter storm.
