OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Omaha Fire Department says a child playing with fire sparked a blaze that caused $250,000 in damage to a North Omaha apartment building and left dozens without a home.
Firefighters battled the 3-alarm fire at an apartment building near 16th and Burdette on Friday night.
The fire, which reportedly started on the third floor and spread to the roof, heavily damaged one of the apartment buildings in the Chambers Court public housing complex.
The fire was declared a working fire at 6:18 p.m. and was reported under control at 7:41 p.m.
All occupants of the building were able to exit without injuries. Red Cross was on location to help those displaced.
