OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Near what's becoming one of Omaha's busiest intersection at 72nd and Pacific St., you'll find one of Omaha's first Mediterranean restaurants, El Basha Grill.

Inside its walls, you'll experience a unique cultural dining experience at a restaurant whose cuisine is centered around freshness.

For more than 15 years, owner Ahmad Nabulsi and his family have brought their traditional Middle Eastern dishes, inspired from their Lebanese roots, to Omaha.

"We started 15-20 years ago when people barely knew what hummus was. Now hummus is everywhere. It's becoming very popular with the Mediterranean diet and all the healthy foods," said Nabulsi. "It's mostly Kabob, grilled meats, fresh vegetables and ingredients, lean meat, lamb, and seafood dishes."

The chefs pride themselves on using fresh ingredients like Sumac, Tahini sauce, mint, cilantro, lemon and herbs.

Their meats, like the Beef Shawarma, are lean with little grease.

"We're probably the only restaurant in Omaha who have Beef Shawarma. It's a traditional Middle Eastern dish and it's becoming very popular," added Nabulsi.

Their menu consists of salads, sandwiches and wraps, soups and dishes like, Falafel, gyros, homemade hummus, and lamb kabob platters. Their prices are reasonable with the majority of their entrees under $10. Their portions are also large which makes them ideal for sharing.

El Basha also offers take out orders, catering, and outdoor seating. In the summertime, guests can smoke Hookah outside on the patio.
