The Academy of Country Music announced the awards for some of the top new talent in 2016.

On the male side Chris Stapleton continued his dominant year as he picked up a win for New Male Artist of the Year.
Kelsea Ballerini found a win for New Female Artist of the Year and Old Dominion was named New Duo/Group of the Year.

These awards are first-ever ACM wins for all three. The voting process for the three categories changed this year from being fan voted to the professional membership voting process.
Stapleton, Ballerini, and Old Dominion all have additional ACM Award nods as well. Ballerini is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year while Old Dominion is in the running for Vocal Group of the Year.

Stapleton leads the ACM nominations with six nods, including both Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year. He went on to win both those awards from the Country Music Association last November.
The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards airs on CBS on April 3.
