OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The fireworks originally scheduled for New Year's Eve were postponed for Saturday. While they may have been a few days late, it was also a few degrees warmer.

Hundreds of people filled the Gene Leahy Mall to see the display but others chose to stay inside the the Omaha Public Library. The third floor was transformed into a viewing area for those who wanted to be inside or needed a place to sit. "We did get some requests like what could people do if they do need to sit down and so we do have a good relationship with the library and we always have so we just reached out to them and they thought it would be a great idea and they have a great space for it," said event project manager, Kylie Vonnahme.

Next year, the Holiday Lights Festival will look different due to the Gene Leahy Mall being under construction. Vonnahme said there will still be plenty of activities and fireworks though during next year's festival.
