I'm Hannah McIlree, your Downtown and Central Omaha neighborhood reporter.
I’m a lover of the outdoors, dog mom and neighborhood reporter. When I am not sharing stories from my neighborhoods, you can find me at Elmwood Park taking in the sites at the Riverfront or enjoying a grilled cheese at Upstream Brewing Company.
Before my move to KMTV, I was a neighborhood reporter in Lansing Michigan. Neighborhood news is my passion and what drives me everday.
Now, let’s jump into a time machine. I was born and raised in the Midwest. My favorite things to do growing up were asking my parents a million questions and writing short stories. Two things I still do every day, but now I get to do it for my neighbors in Omaha. I’m a proud alumna of Ball State University where I earned a degree in Journalism and Media News, along with a minor in Sports Studies.
After graduating Ball State, I worked for the Single-A affiliate in the Atlanta Braves organization. My duties were to manage the press box, social media and video production. I made the jump from Georgia to Michigan in October 2022, to pursue a career in broadcast journalism.
My goal is to share impactful, positive and creative stories that come out of my neighborhoods and to create long-lasting connections in the community. I also have a passion for social media. I enjoy using it as a tool to shine a brighter light on stories happening across the Midwest.
