OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The new ten-story HDR Headquarters building in Aksarben is now home to almost 1,000 employees.
Officials at HDR plan to bring mixed-use retail space and entertainment to their new neighborhood. But they also want to bring a new type of culture to Aksarben. "We wanted to bring a sense of community, more than we've ever had to this neighborhood or wherever we ended up and so we are active in the community in a number of different ways," said Michaella Wittmann, HDR Director of Sustainability.
For some who work in the village they are excited about what HDR plans to bring. "It should be a good thing though too because it will bring a different dynamic of people down here," said Jeff Geaghan.
But bringing a lot more people to Aksarben could also mean bringing more traffic, but so far most who work there said they haven't noticed any issues. "There's really been no issue with parking, I'm here every day and there's really never an issue," said Tyler Andersen.
Most are excited to see how Aksarben grows in the future.
