OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — With St. Patrick's Day just a few days away, KMTV decided to get a jump start on the celebration.

In our Cheap Eat$ tip of the week, Anchor Maya Saenz checked out Barrett's Barleycorn Pub & Grill, located near 43rd and Leavenworth St.

The St. Patty's Day timing coincidentally worked out, as the place was recommended by Omaha Food Lover's Group co-founder, Stacy Winters. The group was started on Facebook in the Fall to highlight some of the area's foods and restaurants.

"The food here is just amazing and it's what I would say is not your traditional bar food because everything here is made from scratch for the most part," said Winters.

When the Barrett family first opened the pub in 1987, customers mainly went for the drinks. Now, it's an ideal place for foodies.

It's a fun place that feels like a party the moment you walk in. With extra space in the back and sand volleyball courts for those warmer summer days, Barrett's has been a local favorite for years.

Their Phillies sandwiches have gotten much of attention. Winters refers to them as "the best in Omaha."

Their menu also includes sandwiches, soups, salads, and burgers. They have happy hour specials each day and offer specialty cocktails.

It's a great place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, eat some delicious bar food, or have a drink with friends.
