OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A 60-year-old man from California was sentenced Monday in federal court for wire fraud after using a 90-year-old Nebraska woman's bank information to make over $221,414 worth of purchases--using the money to go on trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas and pay for shopping excursions.
Robert S. Goldman of Palm Desert, CA was sentenced to 27 months of imprisonment and ordered restitution in the amount of $221,414 for the crime. After release from prison, Goldman will have three years of supervised release.
Investigation by the FBI determined that Goldman fraudulently obtained personal bank account information of a 90-year-old who lived in Nebraska. From Jan. 2016 through Aug. 2017, Goldman made about 180 unauthorized wire payments from the victim's bank account to Goldman's credit card account.
He used the funds to pay for vacations, shopping, gambling and other personal expenses, a press release from the United States Attorney of the District of Nebraska says.
