Crews responding to house fire find body in home

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Emergency crews responded to a fire at a home Friday night, finding one victim deceased in the house.

Fire crews responded to a fire alarm at 11:21 p.m. at 12667 Augusta Ave. with a possible person trapped in a one-story, unsecured, occupied single-family home.

Upon arrival, crews reported light smoke and established a working fire. The Omaha Fire Department says one person was found deceased.

Crews had the fire under control at 11:36 p.m. The fire resulted in approximately $25,000 of structure damage and $5,000 of damage to contents of the home.

At this time, the cause of the fire and cause of death of the victim are under investigation.
