Four transported to hospital following crash near Sorenson Pkwy

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A 74-year-old woman was critically injured in an accident at the Hwy 75 NB off-ramp to Sorenson Pkwy on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the area at 3:46 p.m., where investigation revealed a 2005 Honda Accord was southbound on 30th St to turn eastbound towards the Storz Expressway on-ramp.

As the Honda attempted to turn, it was struck on the passenger side by a northbound 2008 Ford Edge.

Police say three restrained occupants of the Honda and the driver of the Ford were all transported to Nebraska Medicine.

Speed and alcohol aren't considered factors in the accident.

The Honda driver was identified as Melvin Yates, 82, who is being treated for aches and pains. Judy Yates, 74, was the passenger and is being treated for critical injuries to her chest and legs.

An additional female rear seat passenger in the Honda had minor injuries.

The Ford driver was identified as Alison Elker, 29. Elker is being treated for aches and pains.

Investigators were unable to locate any witnesses to the crash.
