LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Louis Burks, 66, died Monday afternoon at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC) in Lincoln.

His sentence of 20-30 years began in Dec. 2013 for two counts of attempted sexual assault of a child out of Douglas County.

The cause of death has not been determined; however, Burks was being treated for a medical condition.

Every time an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, a grand jury conducts an investigation.
