OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — After three months with no winner, the Mega Millions jackpot has grown to a record high.
The jackpot starts out at $40 million, continuing to grow by at least $5 million each drawing until someone wins.
Since March 15, there have been 23 consecutive drawings with no jackpot winner--growing the estimated jackpot for the Tuesday, June 4 drawing to $475 million or $307 million if the cash option is selected.
This marks the 7th largest jackpot in the game's history. The largest on record happened in October 2018 when one South Carolina winner won a $1.537 billion jackpot.
Due to the large jackpot, Nebraska Lottery is encouraging customers to play responsibly.
“It’s important for Nebraska Lottery players to remember that no matter how large the Mega Millions jackpot is, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302 million,” said Lottery Director Brian Rockey. “Your odds of winning remain the same, regardless of how many tickets are purchased or how many people play.”
