CASS COUNTY, Neb. (KMTV) — A 29-year-old Omaha man died Friday night after his vehicle went into an I-80 median, crashed into a creek and landed on its top, our partners at the Omaha World-Herald say.

Officers responded to the crash at 9:22 p.m. on Friday.

The driver of the 2007 Lincoln MKZ, Nyigillo Oyet, was taken by ambulance to Bryan Medical Center's west campus in Lincoln where he was pronounced deceased.

Witnesses told authorities they saw the driver weaving in the eastbound lanes of the interstate before going into the median. Oyet also briefly drove onto the inside shoulder of the westbound lanes.

The vehicle veered back into the median, witnesses say, barely missing a bridge rail before going airborne, crossing a creek and heading into an opposite embankment. The car landed on its top and was partially submerged.

Those in the area tried to locate any victims but were unsuccessful.

Nebraska State Patrol troopers found Oyet, who was the car's sole occupant, still wearing his seat belt.
