PAPILLION, Neb. (KMTV) — Our partners at the Omaha World-Herald say armed, plainclothes security will be in place during school-day Masses at St. Columbkille.

Off-duty law enforcement officers will be on location but inconspicuous when students celebrate Mass at the Catholic church near the school.

St. Columbkille Catholic School is a K-8 school with a preschool.

The Omaha World-Herald says an official with the Archdiocese of Omaha said he knows no other schools or parishes that are considering such a program.

The program, developed by Lt. Jay Kirwan of the Bellevue Police Department, is called BADGE--which stands for Brave Armed Defenders Guarding Education.
