OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — As coronavirus cases come in throughout our area on Friday, KMTV will update this story with the latest numbers. Check back often for updates. The latest updates will be posted at the top. You can find our full coronavirus coverage here.

NEBRASKA

DOUGLAS COUNTY

  • 166 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Douglas County to 11,135 since the outbreak began in March.
  • 1 new death, bringing total number of fatal cases to 136. A woman in her 50s is the newest death.
  • 7,323 county residents have recovered from the illness.
  • 287 medical and surgical beds available for a 79% occupancy rate. There were 108 inpatients diagnosed with COVID-19 and 32 additional persons of interest (generally waiting for test results).
  • 15 individuals who are confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 were on ventilators.

Another Nebraska prisons staffer tests positive for COVID-19

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Another state prisons worker has tested positive for COVID-19. The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said in a news release late Thursday that the staffer works at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center in Lincoln.

The department says the staffer is self-isolating at home. The latest case brings the number of prison employees across the state to test positive for the virus to 48.

The department says it will notify those who work and live in the facility about the latest case. In addition, anyone who may have had close contact with the staff member will be directed to self-quarantine until they are cleared by a medical provider.

LINCOLN-LANCASTER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

  • 22 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Lancaster County today, bringing the community total to 3,266. The number of deaths in the community remains at 17.
  • Recoveries: up from 1,403 to 1,406

Overall positivity rate:

  • Lancaster County – remains at 6.8 percent
  • State – remains at 9.5 percent
  • National – remains at 9.6 percent

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 positive patients: 15 with seven from Lancaster County (one on ventilator) and eight from other communities (one on ventilator).

The testing process begins with a free online risk assessment available at BryanHealth.com, CHIHealth.com or TestNebraska.com. Drive through test sites include:

  • Bryan Health: LifePointe, 7501 S. 27th St.
  • CHI Health St. Elizabeth: Gateway Mall, 6100 “O” St., northwest corner of the mall.
  • Test Nebraska: Gateway Mall, northwest corner of the mall. Test Nebraska appointment times are from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m. today through Saturday.

The COVID-19 Risk Dial is atOrange,” indicating a high risk of the virus spreading. Residents are advised to follow these recommendations to protect themselves and others:

  • Stay home if possible.
  • Stay at least six feet away from others.
  • Wear face coverings.
  • Wash hands frequently.
  • Those at risk of complications from COVID-19 should continue to minimize close contact with others.

THREE RIVERS PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT

  • Three Rivers Public Health Department (3RPHD) reports total lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases within the district as follows:Dodge County: 798 casesSaunders County: 150 casesWashington County: 114 casesTotal 3RPHD Case Count: 1062 cases
  • As of Friday afternoon, the Omaha Metropolitan Health Care Coalition (OMHCC) which consists of Dodge, Saunders, Washington, Douglas and Sarpy county hospitals reported 287 medical beds available and 108 patients hospitalized with COVID-19. Of the 436 ventilators available to area hospitals, 137 were in use, including 15 for confirmed or suspect COVID-19 patients.
