Douglas Co. passes 52,000 COVID cases mark

DOUGLAS COUNTY

The Douglas County Health Department (DCHD) reported 538 new COVID-19 cases for a total of 52,439 to date.

In addition, two more deaths have been reported for a total of 478 to date. The cases include a man in his 60s and another in his 70s. Four-hundred-seventy-eight people have died due to COVID-19-related issues since the pandemic began in March.

Recoveries are now at 32,217.

Other data reported by DCHD:

  • According to the most recent local hospital report received today, medical and surgical beds were at 82% occupancy with 274 beds available and adult ICU beds are occupied at a 73% rate with 90 beds available.
  • There were 297 individuals hospitalized who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, with 83 of them receiving adult ICU level care.
  • 14 more persons of interest (generally waiting for test results).
  • Forty-five individuals who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 were on ventilators.
