Douglas County announces more than 200 coronavirus cases

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - The Douglas County Health Department announced 222 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, upping the county's total since the pandemic began to 59,731.

The county also reported five new coronavirus deaths on Saturday, all men ranging in age from their 60s to 90s. The total number of coronavirus deaths in the county sits at 581.

The county said 44,861 residents have recovered from coronavirus.

According to the most recent local hospital report received Friday, medical and surgical beds were at 80% occupancy with 310 beds available and adult ICU beds are occupied at a 68% rate with 109 beds available.

There were 227 individuals hospitalized who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, with 72 of them receiving adult ICU level care.
There are also 15 more persons of interest (generally waiting for test results).

Twenty-eight individuals who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) today announced that 114 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Lancaster County, bringing the community total to 26,117. The total number of deaths in the community remains at 187.
