Douglas County reports 29.1 percent COVID positivity rate

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - The Douglas County Health Department said the coronavirus positivity rate in the county for the week that ended Saturday was 29.1 percent.

The week saw 1,844 cases out of 6,340 people tested.

The county also announced 112 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, upping the total in the county since the pandemic began to 59,843.

No new coronavirus deaths were announced by the county on Sunday. So far, 581 county residents have died of coronavirus. 45,161 county residents have recovered from coronavirus.

According to the most recent local hospital report received Sunday, medical and surgical beds were at 72% occupancy with 420 beds available and adult ICU beds are occupied at a 67% rate with 112 beds available.

There were 216 individuals hospitalized who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, with 88 of them receiving adult ICU level care.

There are also 13 more persons of interest (generally waiting for test results).

Eighteen individuals who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 were on ventilators.
