Douglas County reports more than 200 new COVID cases

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - The Douglas County Health Department reported 218 cases of coronavirus on Saturday, upping the total in the county since the pandemic began to 57,951.

The county didn't report any additional coronavirus deaths on Saturday, leaving that tally at 535. The county says 41,811 residents have recovered from coronavirus.

According to the most recent local hospital report received Friday, medical and surgical beds were at 76% occupancy with 366 beds available and adult ICU beds are occupied at a 72% rate with 93 beds available.

There were 247 individuals hospitalized who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, with 84 of them receiving adult ICU level care.

There are also 18 more persons of interest (generally waiting for test results).

Thirty individuals who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 were on ventilators.
