Five new COVID-19 related deaths reported in Douglas County

The Douglas County Health Department reported 586 additional COVID-19 cases on Tuesday for a total of 40,581 since the pandemic began.

Five new COVID-19 related deaths were reported involving four men and one woman, all over the age of 70.

The number of COVID-19 related deaths is now 334.

Additionally, the health department says 20,720 residents have recovered.

Medical and surgical beds were at 79 percent occupancy on Tuesday with 320 beds available.

Adult ICU beds were occupied at a 78 percent rate with 73 beds available, according to the health department.

There were 395 individuals hospitalized that are diagnosed with COVID-19 with 103 of them receiving adult ICU level care.

The health department also reports 34 more persons of interest, who are generally waiting for test results.

Fifty people were on ventilators who were confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19.
