Former president Jimmy Carter is looking to help those during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, the Carter Center posted a statement to their website that asked potential donors of their charity to donate to local groups who need help during these tough times.

"It is in this spirit that we ask you to forgo your next gift for the work of The Carter Center and direct it to a local group that is reducing the suffering caused by this pandemic," the statement read. "Each of us asks you to concentrate on the needs of your family, friends, neighbors, and all in your community. Your commitment will help stop this threat."

The Carter Center was founded by Jimmy and his wife Rosalynn.
