OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Area hospitals are getting a nearly $5 million shot in the arm to help save lives during this pandemic response.

The Helmsely Charitable Trust is giving a $4.7 million dollar grant to pay for 367 Lucas mechanical CPR devices.

Those will be given to hospitals in Omaha, Council Bluffs and Fremont.

They could be especially important because research shows nearly one in five hospitalized COVID-19 patients deals with cardiac distress.
