Mills County Public Health to start accepting patient information for vaccine waitlist ahead of Phase 1B

MILLS COUNTY, Iowa. (KMTV) — Mills County Public Health said they expect to start administering COVID-19 vaccines to those in Phase 1B no later than February 1 and are beginning to accept information of those eligible to be put on a wait list.

Listed below are the population groups who will be eligible to receive vaccinations at that time, according to Mills County Public Health:

• Persons aged 75 and older.
• First responders (e.g., firefighters, police officers, and social workers).
• PK-12 school staff, early childhood education, and childcare workers.
• Individuals with disabilities living in home settings who are dependent on attendant care staff, and their attendant care staff.
• Individuals and staff living or working in congregate settings.
• PK-12 school staff, early childhood education, and childcare workers.
• Inspectors responsible for health, life and safety.
• Government officials in state business at the Iowa Capitol during the legislative session.

The vaccine will not be available to all eligible individuals on February 1. Starting Tuesday at 11 a.m., Mills County Public Health will start accepting names and phone numbers of individuals to be put on a wait list.

Those who fall in the Phase 1B category should call 712-274-3643. The line will be open Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mills County Public Health said they are unaware of the number of vaccines the State of Iowa will allocate to them.
