Nearly 500 new COVID-19 cases reported in Douglas County on Monday

Douglas County

The Douglas County Health Department reported 490 additional COVID-19 cases on Monday for a total of 47,069 cases.

Two additional deaths related to the pandemic were also reported, both involving men over the age of 65.

There have now been a total of 401 deaths in the county related to the pandemic.

A total of 23,755 residents have recovered.

NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

Director Scott R. Frakes announced that four staff members with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) are positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). Two of the staff members are employed at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). The other two staff members are employed at the Central Office and the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP), respectively. All of the staff members are self-isolating at home.

Notification will be provided to those who live and work in those locations as to the positive cases. In addition, anyone who may have had close contact with the staff members will be directed to self-quarantine until cleared by a medical provider.

This brings the total number of NDCS staff members diagnosed with COVID-19 to 409. Three hundred and thirteen of those individuals have recovered from COVID-19.
