OPD carries out coronavirus compliance checks, issues tickets

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — As bars, restaurants and parks remain closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Omaha police are hitting the streets to carry out compliance checks. Over the weekend, officers issued 20 citations for trespassing at parks and one citation to a bartender who was serving patrons.

The Omaha Police Department (OPD) says the following citations were issued over the weekend:

  • Adams Park 3121 Bedford Avenue - 2 citations for trespassing
  • Memorial Park 6005 Underwood Avenue - 1 citation for trespassing
  • Robert's Park 730 North 78th Street - 2 citations for trespassing
  • Hummel Park 9200 John J Pershing Drive - 8 citations for trespassing
  • Levi Carter Park 4405 Carter lake shore Drive - 2 citations for trespassing
  • Miller Park 2707 Redick Avenue - 3 citations for trespassing
  • Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge 705 Riverfront Drive - 2 citations for trespassing and Minor in Possession of alcohol

OPD also says officers that entered the Reign Lounge, located at 8919 North 30th Street, and found "five patrons consuming alcoholic beverages." The bartender, Shawn English, was issued a citation for violating the ongoing health order.
