11 people struck by gunfire Friday-Sunday in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — It was a busy holiday weekend for area law enforcement. The Omaha Police Department is reporting at least 11 people were shot in various incidents over the weekend.

Just before 1 a.m. Friday morning, police responded to a shooting near north 40th and Miami. Two victims with non-life threatening injuries were hit by gunfire.

Thirty minutes later, police responded to North 60th street for a shooting. A 15-year-old male was struck and has non-life threatening injuries, as well.

Later Friday evening, police responded to two more incidents. A man said he was struck by gunfire near 3874 Hamilton Street and a 24-year-old male was taken to the hospital in a separate shooting incident near 4836 Boyd Street.

In the early hours of Saturday, police were called to a shooting on North 65th Street where a 31-year-old male was shot. He refused emergency treatment. Less than an hour later, law enforcement was on the scene of another incident near 24th and lake. Two people were injured in this shooting.

On Sunday, officers responded to North 24th and Grand Avenue for shots fired. A 53-year-old Freddie Johnson was struck by gunfire with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers also responded to another car crash at North 60th Street and Radial to find one person dead from reported gun shot wounds. Later, a man in his 40's, who says he ran from that same car, was found with non-life threatening injuries.

Many of these cases are still under investigation.
