A 17-year-old Westin, Nebraska girl will spend tonight in a Lincoln hospital after a loaded tractor-trailer carrying hay sideswiped the pickup she was driving.
Saunders Co Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz says the two vehicles were going opposite directions each with a green light at an intersection west of Wahoo when 51-year-old Patrick Robinson turned left into the girl's lane.
The sheriff says deputies cited Robinson, a semi driver from Wisconsin, for failure to yield at Wahoo's "West Junction" of Highways 92 and 77.
Stukenholtz says Robinson was able to drive his truck away, and the girl has some internal injuries from the crash. She was on her way home from Bishop Neumann High School shortly after 5 p.m.
Stukenholtz told 3 News Now the scene of the crash is the same location Saunders County Sheriff's Office staff member Tanner Hauck and his fiancee Jessica Thomas died in a January 2016 crash.
