1997 blizzard: Twenty years later, tree regrowth still happening

The blizzard of 1997 brought a foot of snow to Omaha. Trees were down all over the city, and power was knocked out for thousands of people.

Twenty years later, neighborhoods are still trying to replant trees lost in the storm.

The Field Club neighborhood has planted trees every few years. This year, they received money from the mayor’s office and planted nearly 40 trees along Woolworth Avenue.

Planting trees of different species has been a focus during the replanting effort.
