COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa. (KMTV) — Council Bluffs Police say an 8-year-old boy died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle.
At 6:25 p.m., police responded to a car vs. pedestrian crash at the intersection of Franklin Ave and Carson Ave.
Police say an 8-year-old boy was struck by a blue Honda Pilot. Witnesses told police the vehicle fled the area.
Authorities located the Honda Pilot a short distance from the scene, which was driven by 36-year-old Troy Allen Pokorny.
The child was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Police arrested Pokorny and are investigating the crash. Impairment may be a possible factor, authorities say.
