OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — It's the end of an era for one Omaha restaurant as Amato's served their final meal Sunday.
After 45 years in business and 27 years at their current location the Italian restaurant off of Center Street shut its doors for good. Owner Ann Amato, ran the business with her son after her husband Sam passed away in 2017. Amato's was featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and on the Travel Channel's "Man vs Food." The eatery was well known for it's homemade Italian sausage among other things.
According to our partners at the Omaha World Herald, the property has already been sold. After Sunday, the owners plan an online auction of restaurant supplies and other items.
