In late July, Andy Hoffman, the father of Jack Hoffman, announced he was battling a massive brain tumor.
The Team Jack Foundation announced Wednesday that Andy Hoffman's tumor is a glioblastoma multiforme, which is generally aggressive and can be hard to remove surgically due to the finger-like matter in which they spread through healthy brain tissue.
Andy will undergo six weeks of radiation and chemotherapy treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Jack, who was 5 when he was diagnosed with brain cancer, gained national attention in 2013 when he ran for a touchdown during the annual Nebraska spring game.
The now 14-year-old later met President Barack Obama and won an ESPY Award.
