Anonymous donor takes family in need on shopping spree

Posted

An anonymous donor who saw a family in need on 3 News Now took a mother and her two daughters on a shopping spree Saturday.

On Friday, 3 News Now reporter Maya Saenz profiled Shiara Rivera. Rivera and her daughters just arrived in Omaha earlier this week. The Puerto Rican family had their 2-story house destroyed during Hurricane Irma.

Because the country is still dealing with the devastation, Rivera lost her job as a Spanish teacher. Her daughters haven't been able to attend school since the hurricane hit. The family decided to move to Omaha to stay with Rivera's longtime friend and rebuild their life.

Shortly after their story aired, a woman who wants to stay unknown reached out wanting to help the family. She met with them Saturday at Westroads Mall to buy the family winter coats and other clothes.
