A Cuming County homeowner has a major cleanup job after an apparent tornado on Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says a tornado briefly touched down five miles west-northwest of Wisner at 3:48 p.m..

Dennis Oswald and his wife Julie bunkered down in a small office building as the tornado ripped through their farm.

“We just saw the debris flying around, I thought it would hit that building, and we thought we better get down,” he said,  “It was just, whoosh, you weren’t even thinking what you were hearing.”

The storm left behind a destroyed shed, there was metal hanging in the trees and lawn chairs blown across the yard.

“All of the machinery there, anything of any value, we had one old two sounder tractors that was insured and the rest of the stuff was a mess,” said Oswald.

Their house seemed to have minimal damage, but the attached garage had the framed ripped from the ground.

“A lot of people who went through the tornado said we know what you are going through we will help you out,” said Julie Oswald.

They said anything damaged can be replaced, they were just happy no one was injured.
