OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Today, the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office, along with other members of the Omaha Fugitive Task Force, carried out warrants to take as many domestic violence suspects off the street as possible. They say it was part of a larger, nationwide effort.

The National Domestic Violence Warrants Sweep, coming out of Clackamas County County Oregon is "responsible for spearheading this project and the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office is always proud to participate in this important yearly event."

Beginning at 6 a.m., 25 deputies and officers went through a briefing and were able to take eight people to jail during the six hour operation.

Law enforcement cleared a total of ten warrants with "charges ranging from strangulation, to protection order violations, domestic violence and child support."
