Update: Bellevue Police identify the man involved in last night's standoff situation as 38-year-old Luis Alberto Vera-Rios.
Police say they were patrolling the area searching for Vera-Rios in connection with another incident that happened Friday. They spotted Vera-Rios in a car, who then fled from law enforcement on foot. He ran into an apartment and the occupants inside fled saying Vera-Rios was armed with a gun.
A standoff ensued.
Vera-Rios was taken into custody around 9:15 p.m. after law enforcement used a chemical agent to get him out of the apartment.
He was taken to Sarpy County Jail and book on charges of: Attempted Murder, Burglary, Terroristic Threats, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, 1st Degree Trespassing, and Obstructing a Police Officer.
Original Story: Bellevue police took a man into custody tonight following an almost five hour long armed standoff at Chandler Pointe apartments in Bellevue.
Law enforcement used tear gas to remove the suspect from the apartments and say the man was involved with a shooting Friday.
Neighbors tell 3 News Now that a man has barricaded himself inside an apartment in building H with a gun.
Sarpy County dispatch confirms the stand off began at 5:23 p.m. and started off as a foot pursuit.
Bellevue Police are being assisted by Sarpy County Sheriff's Office and a SWAT team.
The apartments are evacuated.
