Authorities have released the name of a man who died while police were trying to arrest him.
The Bellevue Police Department says 31-year-old Alex Zoucha, of Bellevue, died after being taken to the hospital for treatment when he became unresponsive as police officers tried to subdue him using a stun gun.
“Officers attempted to utilize a Taser to stop the man from physically fighting. The Taser had little to no effect at the time. As officers were attempting to gain control of the man, he became unresponsive,” officials said.
Police say Zoucha was trying to breaking into a home in the 600 block of West 22nd Avenue around 9:30 p.m. when officers were called.
They described him as “non-compliant” and “violently combative.”
Police say they started CPR when Zoucha became unresponsive, but he later died at the hospital.
Zoucha is also accused of assaulting his grandmother at a nearby home before police arrived. She was treated for minor injuries.
The Bellevue Police Department says the four officers involved will be on administrative leave, per standard police.
They are identified below:
Allison Evans, 28, six and a half years of law enforcement experience
Holly McQuaid, 33, five and a half years of law enforcement experience
Ashley Meyers, 32, three years of law enforcement experience
Anthony Orsi, 30, six years of law enforcement experience
A grand jury will be convened as required by state law.
