Members of the Bellevue City Council will not be getting a pay bump, at least not without more public discussion.

Council members voted down a measure Tuesday night that would give them and the mayor a $6,000 raise.

Council member Pat Shannon proposed the raise but his proposal skipped the normal three readings and a public hearing. Currently, Bellevue council members make $11,000 per year and the mayor makes $17,000.
