POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY, Iowa. (KMTV) — Pottawattamie County deputies said Tuesday they have identified the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a male on a bicycle early Saturday.
Around 2:25 a.m., deputies were dispatched to Old Lincoln Hwy and Northline Dr. for a bicyclist that had been struck by a vehicle.
After arrival, deputies located a male with serious injuries, a press release from the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office says. The vehicle that struck the victim left the location.
The victim, identified as William Shepherd, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Law enforcement later said they had someone come forward saying they were near the area and had struck something. It's unknown if this was the driver.
No arrests or charges have been made against the 56-year-old driver. The case is still under investigation.
