Black Friday shoppers line up for beer

Posted

Some folks refuse to brave the crowds on Black Friday for holiday shopping, but if it means waiting in line for beer, now that's a different story.

People gathered outside Beertopia near 36th and Farnam streets around 6 a.m. Friday before doors opened at 10 a.m.

Goose Island releases its Bourbon County Stout every Black Friday.  Self-proclaimed beer nerds lined up for a taste.

Many shoppers were happy to support a local small business on a day others jam the big box stores.

“We just live a few blocks away so we stopped at a local coffee shop and walked on down here.  We love supporting local business,” said shopper Mark Bingham.

“Why stand in line for electronics when you can enjoy what you are going to buy,” said Local Goose Island representative, Adam Desler.

Beertopia received a limited supply of the bourbon stout so when it was gone, that was it.
