BLAIR, Neb. (KMTV) — Some movie theaters are ready to re-open while some are still waiting including one small metro area theater.
The Blair 3 Theatres says they’re waiting to re-open until at least October. They’ve been closed since March 17 when the pandemic started shutting everything down.
Many theaters in the metro area are planning to open either on August 20, 21, or 27.
Blair 3 Theatres owner Barry Ashley says he’s trying to be extra cautious and see how school opening goes before lighting up the silver screen. He adds they got a small PPP loan, which they appreciate, but it didn’t address all their needs. It’s hurt the theater and the purveyors and suppliers they use.
“I’m terrified. I’m absolutely terrified that I won’t be able to reopen, but right now that’s my goal. I’m going to try to do everything I can to get this place back open,” Ashley explained.
Ashley wants people to go to saveyourcinema.com to let their elected representatives know that theaters need help.
