OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — New lights on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge will be red, white, and blue for Fourth of July weekend. The City of Omaha Parks Department has completed installation of more than 100 LED lights, replacing the original lights installed ten years ago.

Additional lights that shine on the cables and pylons have also been installed which better illuminates the bridge and the plaza on Riverfront Drive. A computer program has the capability to choreograph the bridge lights in all colors and in motion. The colors of the lights can be changed to recognize holidays, events and occasions, or special requests.

"The bridge is a popular destination for family events, proposals, fundraising walks and tourists. We can make all those events even more special with the lighting improvements," said Brook Bench, Parks Director.
