A boil water order has been issued in Fremont after severe storms moved through overnight Thursday.
Lightning knocked out power to Fremont's water treatment plant long enough that city leaders issued the boil order for the next 24 hours. An hour after the first lightning strike knocked out power to the water system, a second strike knocked out the back-up generator.
In Villisca, Iowa, strong winds damaged the roof of the city's power plant and knocked down tree branches all over town. Wind gusts of 68 miles per hour were recorded in Falls City, Nebraska.
