A 12-year-old boy has died at a water park in Kansas City, Kansas.
Police spokesman Officer Cameron Morgan says the boy died Sunday at the Schlitterbahn Water Park. Morgan says he does not yet know the circumstances of the death.
Our sister station in Kansas City, KSHB, is reporting Winter Prosapio, spokesperson for Schlitterbahn, said the boy died on the Verruckt water slide, which is promoted as the world's tallest water slide.
“We are saddened to share that a young boy died on Verruckt this afternoon,” Prosapio said. "Given that safety is our first priority, we have closed our Kansas City park and we have closed the ride pending a full investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time."
There was no additional information released about the fatality.
