Add another to the list of people who think Republican Iowa Senator Joni Ernst would make a good vice presidential candidate.

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad on Monday said Donald Trump should consider Ernst as his running mate in November. Branstad says Ernst would be a "great asset" to Trump, citing her military record and political background. Arizona Senator John McCain recently voiced support of Ernst as a possible vice presidential candidate.

Branstad says he has not discussed the subject with Ernst, who is serving her first term in the Senate. He says he intends to try to meet directly with Trump before the GOP national convention in July to formally make the case for Ernst.
